An Unprecedented Methodology
Our approach brings novel synergy to firearms policy space.
Our united front is well-rooted in our diversity and mutual collaboration as gun owners and non-gun owners across the ideological spectrum.
This initiative is led by Dr. Michael Siegel of the Tufts University School of Medicine in partnership with the unique, consensus-building methodology of Essential Partners, a leading facilitation firm. Together, we have created a neutral and respectful space for open dialogue. Our work is not about compromise for its own sake, nor about defeating opposing viewpoints. Instead, we focus on building genuine consensus on a data-driven policy framework to reduce gun deaths and create safer communities for everyone.
Our Approach
Positive-Sum Game
This is the first project to aim for a policy that simultaneously reduces gun violence and protects gun rights, rejecting the idea that firearm policy must be a zero-sum game in which one side gains and the other side loses.
Structured Negotiation
Our approach marks the first time in which a formal process of professionally facilitated dialogue has laid way for a concrete, legislative-ready firearm policy package for state deployment.
Feasible Enactment
We are the first to explicitly focus on creating a viable policy platform for states that previously have not made firearm violence prevention a legislative priority.
